No makeup Hair: detangled old wash-n-go with Knot-Free Detangler

In addition to great, nature-based products, healthy skin and hair depend upon what you put inside your body, not just the products you use. Here's my green smoothie recipe. Couple this with a handful of nuts (I don't like mixing these into my smoothie. I just eat them) for an energy boost, clearer skin and stronger hair.

My Green Smoothie Recipe

200 ml Dairy free milk (e.g. Almond, Coconut, Soy, etc) I, like many Black folk, am lactose-intolerant. Though I put myself in harm's way for some good ice cream, I'm strict when it comes to these smoothies. I have allergies, so the lack of dairy keeps the mucus build-up at bay.

200 ml Orange juice (or other kind. Just make sure it's pure juice!) This just helps with the flavour, plus pure OJ gives you calcium and other vital vitamins. If you want to nix it, then just add more milk, or water

Water I use this to top up the liquid in case, I put to much frozen fruit or veg in, and it gets to thick.

30 gm Fresh spinach Raw spinach is loaded with  fiber, vitamins A, C, E and K, thiamin, vitamin B6, folate, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper,  zince and manganese. It also gives us that gorgeous green hue.

30 g Cucumber (freeze in chunks for better results) It gives you skin-friendly minerals (magnesium, potassium). It also adds extra liquid and a lovely flavour that enhances the fruits and vegetables.

20 gm Carrot (freeze in chunks for better results) Besides that hot fire beta carotene, this root vegetable also gives you Vitamins A, C, E, K and fiber.

1 Tb (or 10gm) Ground flaxseed Omega-3 fatty acids--the good kind of fat. Flaxseed oil is also great for our hair, too. I throw ground flaxseed into my oatmeal, cookies, and even the gluten-free food I make for my two fur babies 70-100 gm Frozen Fruit (use light coloured fruit to maintain green colour) The amount of fruit you use is up to you. I use enough to thicken the mixture and give me enough sweetness to convince me I'm not drinking vegetables.

Tip: Throw in the bits of cucumber and carrot into you the bag of frozen fruit. Mix them all up together and use in whatever combination you like.

The smoothie is as green as the grass outside! Avocado Smoothie Conditioner is based on my green breakfast smoothie :)
